In a series of video messages, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications (IT&T), Umar Saif, unveiled exciting plans for the future of technology in Pakistan. He announced that the country is preparing to launch 5G services by July and August this year, as well as auctioning the 300 MHz spectrum. Dr. Expressing pride in the interim government's achievements, Saif said it achieved 13 out of 15 points in IT industry promotion and export growth targets in just five,

months.

One of the most important findings of Dr. Saif is the policy change that allows IT companies to retain 50% of export profits in dollars. This move has already resulted in a significant 32% increase in IT exports in the last 60 days. He also discussed the creation of a specialized telecommunications court to quickly resolve disputes in the telecommunications sector.



Mr Saif stressed the importance of adapting educational institutions to the needs of the sector. To this end, it is planned to carry out a uniform quality test for 75,000 IT graduates and to introduce special courses for industry at universities.


In response to calls to pay freelancers via PayPal, Dr. Saif said progress has been made in this area. He also discussed Pakistan's Space First policy, which will enable multinational companies to provide communications services through low-orbit satellites.

Another exciting initiative is the creation of 10,000 e-Rozgar centers across the country to support freelancers and startups. These centers will provide state-of-the-art facilities and technical support to increase IT exports by $10 billion annually.
